“A New Frontier” of Weddings

Theme weddings are often a fun and unique way to celebrate your special day, but if you are a “Star Trek” fan, you now have a new place to hold your dream wedding – Las Vegas.  Known for catering to the whims of just about anyone, and boasting the greatest number of wedding chapels in the world, Las Vegas now allows couples to go “where no couple has gone before” – the bridge of the U.S.S. Enterprise.

The Las Vegas Hilton has a theme-park style attraction called “Star Trek:  The Experience,” in which couples can get married on the bridge of the beloved starship.  Couple can even opt to have four extras attend the wedding dressed as Klingons, BORG, or Ferengi, as the Hilton offers several wedding packages for enthusiast couples.

While this is only one form of a “theme wedding,” you can develop your wedding surrounding any theme possible.  Other popular choices include Renaissance, Shakespeare, Star Wars, and decade themes.  The theme of choice requires a little extra planning, but can make your wedding a memorable affair.

Do you want to throw a theme wedding, but not sure where to look for inspiration?  The easiest place to look is at your interests.  Use a theme that fits your passion.  Then check out books or movies that give you ideas for elements you can incorporate.  For instance, if you are throwing a Renaissance wedding, you may want to look up dress styles, foods, and décor of the period.  You could see if there are musicians that play that style music.  Just doing research into the theme itself can help provide you with inspiration, but if you find yourself stressed with the logistics of planning, you may want to hire a wedding planner or enlist a friend to help you out.

Theme weddings do not need to be all out events, either.  You may just want to add elements of a theme to your wedding.  For instance, if you are a big football fan, maybe you hand out football themed favors.  Or maybe you are an avid gardener.  You can hand out specially designed seed packets to your guests.  The themes and ideas are limitless.
